Autumn blood donation of the Cultural Association “Chatzigiorgis”

Ten minutes. That is all it takes. And they may be the ten most important minutes you give this year to someone you will never meet.

The Cultural Association “Chatzigiorgis” invites all residents and friends of the village to the autumn blood donation on 18 October 2026. The Association’s blood bank currently holds a reserve of more than 250 units — and the only way to keep that safety net alive is to renew it.

Blood is not given only by volunteer donors. All of us give blood.

Who can come

Any healthy person, man or woman, within the age limits (18 to 62 years) set by the blood donation service. You need not have donated before. You need not belong to any organisation. You need no appointment.

What to bring

1. Your identity card or passport
2. Your AMKA (Greek social security number)
3. Your donor card, if you have donated before

Before you come

1. Do not come on an empty stomach — eat something light
2. Drink plenty of water during the day
3. Avoid alcohol the night before
4. If you take medication or have any questions, ask the medical staff on site — they will decide

Why this year, why now

Blood has an expiry date. It cannot be kept forever, and every unit that is not replaced is a unit missing for the next person. Needs do not stop in winter: accidents, operations, childbirths and patients with thalassaemia do not wait for the next donation day.

Every time one of our fellow villagers was in need, the blood was there because someone had given it beforehand. On 18 October, that someone can be you.
